From humble beginnings to a team of professionals
Michael Castor & Associates Pty Ltd (MCA) was established in Goondiwindi in 1988 by Michael Castor to provide independent on-farm agronomic advice to dryland and irrigated broadacre farmers. Originally a one-man agronomy operation, the business has expanded significantly to become one of the larger private Agricultural consultancy businesses in Australia. Now in its 37th year of successful operation, MCA Ag Group offers multiple agricultural services including Farm Management and Investment, Agronomy Consulting, Precision Ag and, more recently, its own Agricultural Research division.
The company now boasts seven shareholders and directors, with Michael Castor remaining the principal shareholder. All shareholders are senior full-time employees of the company. MCA Ag Group employs 21 full-time and 2 part-time qualified consulting agronomists to provide agronomic services tailored to the specific needs of each client. In addition to the agronomic staff, MCA Ag Group also employs a highly experienced corporate farm manager, research agronomist, and precision agriculture specialists, ensuring superior whole-farm management.
Our Service Area
MCA Ag Group operates across a broad and diverse region spanning Southern Queensland and Northern New South Wales. Our current service area extends from Taroom to Surat in the north, Muckadilla to Dirranbandi in the west, Yetman to Crooble in the east, and extends south through Moree, Bellata and Boggabri. Our experience also includes previous project work as far south as Griffith, NSW.
We continue to strengthen our regional presence, with additional offices now established in Toowoomba and Chinchilla to better support our services.
Comprehensive Service Offering
MCA Ag Group provides a diverse range of services, including farm investment, farm management (including machinery, staff and administration), agronomy, precision agriculture, and agricultural research. This comprehensive approach allows us to provide sophisticated and targeted solutions to our clients, ensuring the optimisation of their agricultural operations.
Spanning over 400,000 hectares, MCA Ag Group currently provides whole-farm agronomic consulting services to approximately 110 dryland broadacre clients and 20 irrigated clients. In addition, MCA facilitates the management of multiple large-scale irrigated and dryland corporate farms, offering a full suite of services that include agronomy, farm planning, administration, staffing, and machinery management.

Our extensive coverage across diverse farming regions and enterprises in Northern New South Wales and Southern Queensland provides us with extensive agronomic insights, significantly benefiting our clients.
The inclusion of seven senior consultants within the ownership structure of the organisation has significantly enhanced the management and mentorship of junior staff, enabling the efficient servicing of a large client base. Each of the seven senior Directors/Consultants is responsible for their own group of clients, supported by a team consisting of a senior partner, an experienced associate, and a trainee. The senior consultant maintains overall responsibility for the services provided to the clients within their group.
